Every February the new vintages of Brunello are released in Montalcino and to say it is a big deal is an understatement!  This year the 2008 Brunello and the 2007 Riserva Brunello are finally making their debut. I hear through the grapevine that the 2008(s) are decent but the 2007 Riserva(s) are exceptional.  I look forward to tasting ALL of them myself! It was like being-tag teamed by two used car salesmen. Recently I was driving around a visiting friend who was dying to try some amazing Brunello from the area and wanted to go visit Montalcino. I decided to take him to the Enoteca la Fortezza in Montalcino where he’d have a chance to taste numerous high-end Brunellos at the same time.
